Who this is for: Leadership, ICT, admin and marketing/communications.
1. Clarify the purpose
Agree on the main jobs of the website:
- Inform current families
- Attract new enrolments
- Support students and staff with key information
- Demonstrate accessibility and inclusion
Write this in one paragraph and share it with your team. It becomes your filter for decisions.
2. Identify your audiences
Most school sites serve:
- Future families
- Current families
- Students
- Staff
Decide the top 3 questions each group needs answered. That drives your menu and pages.
3. Set budget and timeframe
Answer two questions:
- What is a realistic budget range for this project?
- When do we ideally want the new site live (term, year)?
EDU Net websites are designed to respect school budgets, with most projects between $990 + GST and $1,500 + GST for a standard build, and higher for bespoke work. Setting expectations early avoids delays.
4. Assign roles inside the school
Pick:
- A project owner (approvals and decisions)
- A content contact (provides text and documents)
- An ICT contact (domains, email, existing systems)
This can be 1–3 people, but they need clear responsibility.
5. Prepare your content
You don’t need everything perfect, but gather:
- Existing text from your current website
- Key policies and documents
- Recent photos and logos
- Any must‑include programs, achievements, or history
With EDU Net, you complete a detailed content form. We then draft base copy for you to tweak, which drastically reduces staff time.
6. Plan for accessibility and updates
Confirm:
- You expect the site to align with WCAG 2.0 AA
- You want a simple process for updates (e.g. email us content and we publish it)
Building this into the plan avoids last‑minute stress and makes approval easier.
7. Choose your next step
If you can answer the points above, you’re ready.
Start with a free website & accessibility review
We’ll review your current site and turn this checklist into a concrete plan and budget for your school.
